Tom Ford
Tom Ford Beauty launched in 2006, founded by designer Tom Ford following his departure from Gucci Group, with fragrance at the core of a vertically integrated luxury house. The first Private Blend collection — sixteen compositions released simultaneously — positioned Tom Ford as one of the most ambitious niche fragrance debuts in recent memory, presenting difficult materials like black orchid, oud, and tobacco leaf in a unapologetically opulent register. The mainline Signature collection — anchored by Black Orchid and the subsequent Velvet Orchid — established a broader commercial presence, while the Private Blend continued to expand into harder oud expressions, tobacco-driven compositions, and collaborations with notable perfumers including Yann Vasnier and Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Estée Lauder acquired the full Tom Ford brand in 2023.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
